The Euphrates (Fırat, in Turkish) River is the longest river in Western Asia. The river has three riparian countries, Iraq, Syria and Turkey, and its basin is distributed among five countries with a total estimated population of 23 million. In Turkey, the river determines the borders of 8 cities, and a major water basin for all. Currently there are several unplanned and uncontrolled projects for touristic attractions throughout the basin. The project intends to bring an overall strategy and sets of rules for current and future projects, respecting and protecting the natural beauty of the area while helping the locals economically benefit from the investments in a sustainable way.
